My Mushroomburger

My mushroomburger is literally a sandwich with lots of fresh mushrooms as patty and it's from the famous Mushroomburger Restaurant. Mushrooms being my favorite, this burger is indeed the ultimate sent from heaven. Not only it taste so delicious, it is also healthy.

Early this afternoon, I took both my boys for a haircut. On our way home, my husband treated me to my favorite burger. Not only that, we also ordered more to go. It has always been a wish that they would put up a branch of Mushroomburger somewhere near our place. They granted that this year.

Of Cheese Rolls and My Husband

My husband always surprises me with the most unexpected gifts "pasalubongs" ever! I wasn't expecting that he will finish a basket of Cheese Rolls from the pastry shop for me Well, he didn't really finished a whole basket of it... As to where he got it, I don't really care 
Cheese Rolls is one of my favorite pastries. Especially my mom's rolls. We used to own a bakery, and every morning, my mom would serve baskets of them straight from the oven. I really miss my mom's Cheese Rolls. I remember I would sneak up on her just to get one and not pay for it (lol). Those were the days. Soon, we will be back on making pastries and baked goodies again, (#1 on my list is a bunch of cheese rolls)  we're just waiting for something to finish (wink!)

And to my husband: Thanks again for the Cheese Rolls, it's a true favorite of mine.Thank you for bringing back good memories of  food, love and family. I love you...

Me On Baking

I'll make this easy to understand by giving 3 points.

1. My oven is busted. Well, I'm not really sure. Because I was able to use it last Christmas. After that, it started making weird sounds every time I try to turn it on. And I don't want to risk it.
2. I'm at the point of deciding if I should get a new Gas Range or have the old one fixed.
3. It's not priority (gas range) right now. Besides, all four burners are working perfectly fine.

My Favorite Bicol Express

Max's version is by far my favorite. Best Bicol Express ever! I love it because of it's: Crunchy pork cutlets topped with the riches coconut milk sauce and fresh green chili. It's like Lechon Kawali with Bicol Express sauce.

Thyme Chicken Cream Pasta

 It's an instant recipe from my kitchen. Once again, I just grabbed whatever I have in my pantry and fridge and made the most out of it.
To describe: It's just chicken cream over your pasta.
* Best served with spaghetti, angel hair pasta, Penne or Fettuccine

  • 1/2 kilo Chicken Breast fillet (skin removed) (about 10 pcs of 2 " slices)
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 5 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 medium carrot chopped
  • 10 pieces baby potatoes, peeled
  • 1 whole bell pepper sliced thinly
  • 1 1/2 cup all purpose cream
  • 1/2 cup fresh milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp thyme (dried or fresh)
  • grated cheese
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 450g macaroni or any pasta of your choice

How To:
* In a separate pan cook pasta.
  • In a sauce pan, saute garlic in olive oil until golden brown
  • Add chopped onions and stir for a few seconds
  • Add chicken breast, set from medium to high fire stir continuously until half-cooked
  • Add thyme and butter
  • Add baby potatoes and carrots, stir continuously for another 5 minutes
  • Then add fresh milk and water
  • Simmer until everything is cooked
  • Add all purpose cream and set on low fire
  • When sauce is thick, add sliced bell pepper then add salt and pepper then set aside
* Plate some of the cooked pasta, top it with grated cheese then add 2 pcs of chicken breast from the sauce then pour some sauce over it, add more thyme.

Rocket Salad

Arugala has been part of my salad bowl since late 2009. I was looking on salad greens in the grocery store, and at the same time my palette was also looking for something new. I got attracted to the name itself. That's when I discovered it. It became my favorite since then.
I always serve it with some homemade honey- mustard.

Arugula is mainly used as a salad green. It has an spicy and peppery flavor.  It is an annual herb, grown for its mustard-like leaves. Use it to add a little kick to salads and other dishes. Also known as 'the rocket' (Italian Cress). A leafy green herb of the mustard family. 
Arugula is very low in calories and is a good source of vitamins A and C, folate, calcium, and magnesium. Can be eaten raw or cooked. It is excellent when added to pasta dishes or accompaniment to roasted or grilled meats.- source-

Mother's Day Treat 2010

The celebration started with 2 kinds of salad, 2 kinds of pasta and 2 rounds of pizza . This one feast I missed with my camera. This was also when we're having a good time with our mom.

At the end of the day, we all went back home to share the cake my Dad bought for my mom. Then, as my Mother's Day treat for everyone, my husband and I bought Starbucks to match our cake.

May 10, 2010  I went to Cubao for an errand. My husband drove for me and to my surprise, it was also his plan to treat me to any restaurant of my choice.

My Ultimate Breakfast Duo

Champorado or sweet chocolate rice porridge. It's sticky rice mixed with cocoa powder.

Often served hot also cold  with milk and sugar, eaten during breakfast and sometimes as an afternoon snack for the kids. Best served with dried fish called Tuyo.

Since I'm allergic to dried fish, I prefer it with bacon or toasted Spam slices instead. Yum!

On Mom's very special day, treat her to an elegant brunch at Delifrance!
